Technical Specification of Images
Most of the images in the library have been taken with a full-frame sensor digital camera, using professional grade lenses to shoot 16 bit raw images that can give 95MB RGB files (approximately an A2 print) without interpolation. jpg or tif files are produced to the client's specification direct from this raw file, in an appropriate colour space.
To appear over the internet, they have to be displayed on the site in the reduced gamut colour space of sRGB, but images supplied to clients for print reproduction are in an appropriately larger gamut.
Some images have been scanned from film using a high quality virtual-drum scanner. Our scanning is described here.

Image minimum specification needs -
to be at least A4 at 300ppi (c. 30MB in 8bit)

A guidance paper providing more detail is in preparation. Please contact us for further advice.
